AJ's Grill
About This Spot
Stepping into AJ's Grill feels like arriving at a well-loved crossroads of local life and laid-back Americana. Nestled just off the highway near Arlington, this spot carries the quiet charm of a classic roadhouse with a warm, unpretentious vibe that invites both neighbors and wanderers to pause and settle in. The hum of casual conversation blends easily with a carefully chosen soundtrack that sets a comfortable, welcoming pace — neither rushed nor too slow, just right for lingering over good company and familiar flavors.
The space itself is an open embrace of dual personalities: on one side, a bar that hums with easy camaraderie and friendly exchanges; on the other, a dining area that feels cozy yet unforced, where regulars and newcomers share the same comfort in the simple act of breaking bread together. The atmosphere carries a subtle Western character without feeling like a staged scene — it’s genuine, layered with little touches that suggest the stories and laughter that have passed through here.
Food at AJ's Grill is integral to the experience, not merely serviceable fare. The kind of meals you find here are crafted with an awareness of the local rhythm and palette — hearty, honest, and satisfying without ceremony. Whether you’re unwinding after a day on the road or stopping by for a casual bite, there’s a sense of care in how each plate arrives: flavorful and straightforward as the place itself. Shared moments over crispy wings, a perfectly grilled burger, or a plate of fries dusted with just the right amount of seasoning feel like catching up with an old friend.
This is a place where the everyday feels a little more grounded, where the welcome comes not from flash but from something enduringly genuine. Whether it's a quiet lunch or a lively evening punctuated by karaoke, AJ's Grill quietly cultivates a space that feels good to come back to — a pause from the journey, filled with the kind of warmth that stays with you when you hit the road again.

Stopped in here a couple weeks again when I was out that way, didn't really know what to expect but I was very happy. Only a few people in the bar. I ordered a burger and sat at a table. Food came out pretty fast and hot, music playing in the place was great and the burger was fantastic with the fries. I will definitely go back again

First time checking out AJ's; a drive-by on our motorcycle ride out for the afternoon! Very friendly server, Allie, was helpful and attentive; making for a great eating experience. The Dusty Burger and Steak sandwich were very delicious, as well as the side salad I ordered and the French fries (dusted with course salt) my husband ordered I even went inside and played a game of pool with a gal I just met!

My entire family went there last night. It is a family friendly place to go. And we had a very good time. It is totally western atmosphere. They have a bar on one side and the restaurant on the other side, but it's all open. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, including all the regulars. They do offer karaoke if you like to sing. The food was amazing!!! We had Buffalo wings, taco', chili cheese fries, fried zucchini, fried pickles, fried mushrooms, salad with steak in it, chili cheese fries and chili cheese dogs and fried fish sandwich and burgers. Every one of us enjoyed our meal, very fresh, very tasty. Not undercooked or overcooked, but just right. We highly recommend going there!!!

Great local spot for some lunch or drinks. We came after a long ride out at Agua Caliente Staging Area. We arrived a few hours after opening to a pretty busy crowd. There’s a bar side with pool tables etc as well as your grill side. Food was great and service friendly and efficient. We had a large group and she did awesome. The club sandwich was huge and I’m glad my husband and I decided to share it because with the fries etc I would not have been able to eat it all. Price was decent. There is even a camp sight behind the grill for RVs etc. Good spot. If you love history the historic Gillespie dam bridge and petroglyphs are nearby a well. A lot of history around here.
